Hello and welcome to M – Film Views.

The purpose of this blog is to share my views on film. My views will be spread through reviews, with the occasional essay and general observation dropped in for good measure. Not only do I wish express my opinions, I also want to draw attention to films that don’t get as much exposure as they should. The films reviewed and talked about on this blog will be wide ranging. However be warned, as a Godzilla fan, that monster’s presence will loom large through out this blog.

As for the name of this blog, it is taken and inspired by Fritz Lang’s ‘M‘ (1931); partly because it is an excellent film, but mainly because Lang’s films dealt with the past, the present and the future. That is the scope of this blog. So come and enjoy my ramblings and contest them if you wish.

I have been enjoying films since I was a child and I remember vividly my first trips to the cinema. My earliest memories include going to see ‘A Bug’s Life‘ in 1998 and ‘Toy Story 2‘ in 1999. However my love of film, as an art form, was ignited when I watched ‘King Kong‘ (1933) and ‘Gojira‘ (1954); these films, which hold a special place for me, led me to understand and appreciate the histories and techniques of cinema better. More importantly film helped me to understand the world clearly. I studied film at school and continued all the way to postgraduate level at university, leading me down further rabbit holes.
